Glyphosate
Glyphosate (Roundup) is a chemical that has been widely used as an herbicide since 1974, though it was originally created as an antibiotic in 1950. Today, it is the most commonly used herbicide in the U.S. In 2015, the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) classified glyphosate as "probably carcinogenic to humans."
Glyphosate has been linked to increased intestinal permeability (leaky gut), chronic acidosis, mitochondrial dysfunction, altered gut flora, kidney damage, hormonal imbalances, and other health concerns. Many food products, including some organic ones, have been found to contain high levels of glyphosate residue.
